To convert and stop rust on a truck frame using a DIY tannic acid solution, mix 4 grams of food-grade tannic acid powder into 100 ml of warm distilled water until it looks like strong black tea
How to Mix the Solution
Ratio: Combine 4 grams of tannic acid powder with 100 ml (about a half-cup) of warm distilled water.
Optional boost: Stir in one teaspoon of Naval Jelly (which contains phosphoric acid) to speed up the conversion and create an even stronger protective barrier of ferric phosphate and ferric tannate.
Consistency: Stir until fully dissolved; the liquid should resemble dark black tea.
How to Apply It to a Truck Frame
Prep the metal: Use a wire brush or coarse steel wool to scrub away loose, flaking rust. Do not sand down to bare shiny metal, because tannic acid requires existing rust (iron oxide) to trigger the chemical reaction. 
  2]Brush or spray: Apply an even coat of the mixture across the rusted frame using a brush, rag, or spray bottle. [
Watch the reaction: Within 10 to 15 minutes, the orange-brown rust will shift color to a dark gray, purple, or blue-black. This color change means the active rust has converted into stable ferric tannate.
Second coat: Let the first coat dry completely for 2 to 4 hours, then apply a second thin coat. 
Sealing the Frame
Final protection: Tannic acid stops the immediate corrosion cycle, but pure tannin coatings will degrade outdoors if left raw.
Topcoat: Once the second coat cures fully, seal the treated truck frame with a rubberized undercoating spray, fluid film, or a durable chassis paint to block future moisture and road salt.
